The statement concerning Dan Shull supposedly left by Larry Dressel was obviously posted by someone posing as Larry because "Dressel" is spelled with one "L" and I'm most certain that Larry is most familiar with the spelling of his own name! Therefore, the statement posted by Dan Shull is totally uncalled for, and in any case, needs to be taken off this sight immediately! Lets not be cowards. If you've got something to say, make it honest and have the balls to use your own damn name! Maybe then you'll get the spelling correct!

Well....while you walk to your car in LEATHER shoes....grab the LEATHER steering wheel and sitting on LEATHER seats....and go to the resturant or store for STEAK(dead cow)carrying your LEATHER purse....hmmmm where do you think the leather is from? It AIN'T the moon! Go to the slaughter house and then tell me how cruel hunters are!! Been there and it isn't pretty! Hunting is a tradition as well as a wildlife management tool. Explain to the millions of hunters how you will help keep game populations in check! I pay a hunting liscense fee for several states avery year as well as drwings etc. So my money goes to the wildlife divisions and then into programs as well as hunting related programs. Over the years all told I have put in THOUSANDS of dollars. How much have you given to the state programs?? Put your money where your mouth is and then we'll see who the people are that conserve the land and wildlife.....THE HUNTERS/SPORTSMAN AND WOMEN!!

IN THE COURT OF APPEALS OF IOWA No. 3-157 / 02-0708 Filed March 26, 2003 STATE OF IOWA, Plaintiff-Appellee, vs. LARRY JOSEPH DRESSEL, JR., Defendant-Appellant. Appeal from the Iowa District Court for Black HawkCounty, Joseph Moothart, District Associate Judge. Larry Joseph Dressel, Jr., appeals from the judgment and sentence imposed following his guilty plea to operating while intoxicated, third offense. AFFIRMED. Robert Thompson, Reinbeck, for appellant. Thomas J. Miller, Attorney General, Thomas Tauber, Assistant Attorney General, Thomas Ferguson, County Attorney, and D. Raymond Walton and Michael Bandy, Assistant County Attorneys, for appellee. Considered by Vogel, P.J., and Miller and Eisenhauer, JJ. MILLER, J. Larry Joseph Dressel, Jr., appeals from the judgment and sentence imposed following his guilty plea to operating while intoxicated, third offense. He contends the district court erred at sentencing by not allowing him the opportunity to withdraw his guilty plea when it decided not to follow the parties “joint recommendation” concerning sentencing. We affirm. The State charged Dressel with operating while intoxicated (OWI), third offense, in violation of Iowa Code section 321J.2 (2001), a class “D” felony.[1] Dressel initially pled not guilty. On February 8, 2002, he appeared in court and stated his intention to plead guilty. At the plea proceeding counsel for both parties, and Dressel personally, all informed the court there was no plea agreement. The State did indicate it would have a “recommendation,” apparently a sentencing recommendation. It did not state what it might recommend at sentencing. The court accepted the plea of guilty and ordered a presentence investigation. A different judge conducted a sentencing hearing on April 26, 2002. At the outset of the hearing the sentencing judge stated on the record that he had met with counsel in chambers before beginning the hearing and had indicated he “may not be able to follow the joint recommendation to the effect that Mr. Dressel would be allowed to remain out of custody until space is available at the 321J facility,” but he would listen to arguments in support of the joint recommendation. Based on statements made by the parties and the court at the sentencing hearing it appears that by then the parties had agreed to a “joint recommendation” on the OWI charge of a $2500 fine, a suspended five-year prison sentence with maximum participation in a treatment program (“321J Program”) at a residential facility, a substance abuse evaluation, drinking drivers school, a six-year bar of driving privileges, and that Dressel remain free until space became available in the residential facility. After hearing from the parties regarding sentencing the court declined to follow the parties’ recommendation for a suspension of the prison sentence and sentenced Dressel to a term of no more than five years imprisonment, leaving it to the Department of Corrections to determine whether he should be immediately placed in a residential treatment program or placed elsewhere. The court did not afford Dressel an opportunity to then withdraw his plea of guilty. Our rules of criminal procedure recognize plea agreements and set forth certain procedures to be followed by the parties and the court when a plea agreement exists. In relevant part they provide the following: Advising court of agreement. If a plea agreement has been reached by the parties the court shall require the disclosure of the agreement in open court at the time the plea is offered. Iowa R. Crim. P. 2.10(2) (second emphasis added). Rejection of plea agreement. If, at the time the plea of guilty is tendered, the court refuses to be bound by or rejects the plea agreement, the court shall inform the parties of this fact, afford the defendant the opportunity to then withdraw defendant’s plea, and advise the defendant that if persistence in a guilty plea continues, the disposition of the case may be less favorable to the defendant than that contemplated by the plea agreement. Iowa R. Crim. P. 2.10(4) (second emphasis added). Dressel claims the sentencing court “erred by not allowing the Defendant the opportunity to withdraw his former plea of guilty to [OWI, third offense] upon settling on not following the plea bargain.” However, certain duties imposed on a trial court, including the duty to “afford the defendant the opportunity to then withdraw defendant’s plea,” apply “at the time the plea of guilty is tendered,” and apply only if a plea agreement exists and is then disclosed in response to the court’s inquiry concerning a plea agreement. See Iowa R. Crim. P. 2.10(2), (4). At the plea proceeding counsel for both parties, as well as Dressel himself, had informed the court there was no plea agreement, and no plea agreement was then disclosed. In accepting Dressel’s guilty plea the court was therefore under no obligation to afford him the opportunity to withdraw the plea. If a plea agreement had in fact existed at the time of the plea proceeding, and if at the sentencing hearing the parties had so informed the court and had further informed it they had mistakenly told the court at the time of the plea proceeding that there was no plea agreement, under such circumstances the sentencing court would arguably have been obligated to then comply with rule 2.10(4) and afford Dressel the opportunity to withdraw his plea of guilty. However, at the sentencing hearing no one stated or suggested that any plea agreement which had by then been reached had existed at the time of the plea proceeding. We conclude that under the language of rule 2.10 and the facts of this case the sentencing court was entitled to rely on the parties’ representations, made at the plea proceeding, that no plea agreement existed at the time Dressel’s plea of guilty was tendered and accepted; was entitled to rely on Dressel’s guilty plea having been properly tendered and accepted; and therefore had no duty to afford Dressel the opportunity to withdraw his plea of guilty. Stated somewhat differently, absent any claim or evidence that the parties’ earlier representations were inaccurate or that the court had not properly accepted Dressel’s guilty plea, in sentencing Dressel the court was entitled to rely on those representations and the propriety of the court’s earlier acceptance of the guilty plea. We conclude the sentencing court did not err by not offering Dressel the opportunity to then withdraw his plea of guilty. We need not and do not address the State’s claim that Dressel failed to preserve error or waived his claim of error by failing to move to withdraw his plea after the sentencing court’s intention to not follow the parties’ “joint recommendation” became apparent. AFFIRMED. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [1] Dressel was also charged with, pled guilty to, and was convicted and sentenced for operating a motor vehicle while barred, but that conviction is not at issue in this appeal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- www.judicial.state.ia.us

I want to say the my friend Jerry Segerstrom and myself had a fantastic hunting experience hunting Mule Deer with WWA in Nevada. The motel rooms and food were mighty fine. Hunting with guide Riley was a delightful experience and the nice 30" 5X5 was an added bonus! Another thing I really enjoyed was the leaves changing from green to yellow, red and orange. That was a visual perception I'll remember for a long time to come. Thanks for a wonderful trip!

Our Nevada hunt was as good as a guided hunt can be. We drew a late season tag and it was like hunting a 200,000 acre private lands hunt! The guides were the best I've ever hunted with, bar none, and the Outfitter Ron Lara was surpurb and clearly in command. I took my buck with guide, Chris Quintana and Ron Lara on the 4th day of a 5 day hunt. I passed on 6 other bucks like him but we were seeing 50 bucks a day and hundreds of does. My partner Norm took his buck on the second day after missing one well over 200 B&C. His buck was still a 30" 5X5!

To Serious Big Buck Hunters Only The last decade I've traveled north across the border hunting Saskatchewan and Alberta. I've harvested bucks in the 150's and 160's most years. This season was spectacular because I hunted with someone who knew BIG BUCKS. Neil Johnson, owner of North Star Outfitting, and his daughter, Alicia, are experts on the knowledge of deer. Their expertise of the area and the patterns of whitetail deer are by far the best I've ever seen. The guides studied these big bucks with trail cams, fall photographing and spotting scopes. They know their habits and what Neil calls "a hot area NOW"!!! The food was great and the guides were awesome and Neil's camp is top-notch and relaxing. Looking forward to having another great week of hunting in the near future.

On my first day Neil put me in a spot where I tagged out in 20 minutes on my biggest WT to date... Two days later I bagged a big mulie. I have been chasing whitetail for years in hot spots like North Dakota, Kansas and Saskatchewan with various degrees of success. This year I hunted Alberta with Neil and North Star hoping to finally have a chance at a 150 class WT and combo with a mule deer. On my first day Neil put me in a spot where I tagged out in 20 minutes on my biggest WT to date, a 164” 12 pointer. Two days later I bagged a big mulie. Yeah I got lucky, but North Star gave me a chance to get lucky. Having personally experienced many different WT outfitters over the last 6 years, North Star has been the most successful and the accommodations are first rate. I will return in 09 to see if Neil can do it again.

My name is Joe and 2008 was making up to be a great year for hunting in our great state. As all of the big game hunters in Nevada know to draw a tag is very special, but to draw three is well WOW. I was the lucky one!! As the year moved on and anticipation grew my faith in myself started to be not as sure as in years past. My antelope hunt started well and things looked bright, but luck was not on my side as I soon found out. Missed shots can haunt a guy for weeks and I had no time to waste on that. My next trip was a full week in the upper NW Nevada area and on a muzzle load deer hunt. I do say the country is beautiful and wild. Unfortunately the wildlife was not as abundant, or I just didn’t see it! Needless to say, I once again came home empty handed which is something I and my buddies are not used to. Now I am down to the really big hunt which is the one tag every hunter in every state and some countries are hungry to get. Nelson Big Horn Sheep. At this point in the year I have had time to dwell on the past few months and the missed opportunities (and shots). I decided to hire Nevada Outfitters to guide me on this once in a lifetime hunt and it was an experience that will give me a smile for the rest of my life. Rob was incredible. He was shielded with another hunter for the first 7 days of the season and I was hanging out with the guys waiting (impatiently) for my hunt time with him. We went to get familiar with the area as it is on one of the Air Force Base bombing ranges and access is very limited for all but the hunters who draw a tag and people in the party. I learned that spotting sheep is a tricky thing to do and the guys that were with me had some experience in the field on sheep hunts in the past years. As for me it was my first hunt of this kind and I had very little knowledge of where or what to look for. I found myself being the guy that had to be shown where they were after the other guys found the sheep on the mountain side. To my surprise and enjoyment Rob was successful in his first scheduled hunt very quickly and was more than willing to go out early on my hunt with me and my friends. I have known Rob and trust him in his judgment in what he does, but he proved that it’s a passion. My friends (and myself) were amazed how quickly he found the sheep on the mountain. Not only that, he would find a lot of sheep, day in and day out, and miles apart from the others. Low and high. Needless to say my friends were now the ones that had to be shown were the sheep were. Rob spotted the rams that morning and decided we would go after a very nice one in the group of the four. They wound up being only 3 miles away and low on the mountain side, and after the gps confirmed the 17 miles we had already walked we jumped on the chance. Rob once again was out in front with the spotting scope, and it seemed most of the gear in his pack. He led up through the valley to a ridge that we skirted around and found ourselves in the perfect position for a stalk. Rob set the spotting scope up on top of the ridge so we could get a good look at the rams all bed down in the sun. I decided to take the one he put us on and the hunt was on. My friends were able to view the hunt with the spotting scope and Rob and I stalked closer. As I lay across the back pack Rob set up for my shooting rest for what seemed like hours, watching through my rifle scope anticipating the shot, I realized we were in the perfect spot. Rob kept me calm and we talked about what the ram would do and when to shoot. He was very knowable, for what he said would happen did. Watching a sheep’s eyes blink with sleep and then his head fall and hit the ground as he falls asleep is one thing that makes me smile every time I think about it. I will hire Rob and Nevada Outfitters again (soon I hope) for my next hunt of any kind. This seems to be a bit long of a letter to a person just reading it, it’s hard to write the excitement, but there is so much I could have written. Go do it and then you will know, and Smile!

As an outdoor television producer, I have opportunities to hunt all over the world. The reason I return year after year to Dore Mountain Outfitters in Saskatchewan, Canada is because of their effectiveness in placing me in the middle of the action -- whether it be whitetail or black bear. Dore Mountain Outfitters is professional and effective in every detail.

Dore Mountain Outfitters was the most amazing place I have every hunted north of the border. The people were great, and always there to help you have a great hunt. The animals were magnificent. There was never a dull moment in the 4 days I spent in the blind. Deer everywhere, if I wasn't so picky looking for that Canada buck of my dreams I would of been able to kill out everyday. But it just goes to show you, if you are happy with a buck you see, take him. But if your not, spend the time and wait and that buck of your dreams will step out when you are with Dore Mountain! We hunted and filmed our hunt with Scott Robinson's Waterfowl Specialists, his web site is www.snowgoosespecialist.com, this hunt was last spring. Needless to say, he was phenominal and so where all of his helpers and other hunters. It was exactly what he said it would be and it really was "the trip of a lifetime". We shot 247 birds in 4 days of hunting-unreal. Great numbers of birds with great equipment and excellent new friendships. I just wanted to thank you for representing such top notch outfitter and if it wasn't for outdoorsman.com I may not of had such a great hunt!!

I've been on 3 W3 hunts and they have all been great. Paul has great hunting areas, great equipment, well behaved horses, and if you're not careful you'll gain weight if you spend to much time around the cook tent. Paul's guides know their territory and know how to hunt elk. I will definitely hunt again with Paul and hope to see you in camp.

I just wanted to thank you again for an incredible hunt and time in camp with your family and staff on my first ever Merriam’s hunt in April, 2009. It was two of the best turkey hunts I have ever experienced and was a great feeling tagging out on both birds by 6 am of the second day !! Not only was the scenery of eastern Washington a great memory, but even more amazing was the amount of land available to hunt and the number of birds and wildlife that I saw. Anthony and Brian were both great guides and guys to hunt and spend time with. Not only were they very enjoyable to be around, but I was even more impressed by their hunting and guiding experience dealing with not only turkeys, but big bear and mountain lion hunts as well. It truly can’t get much better than this. Rest assured I will be coming back again for more hunts in the future and look forward to more stories, memories and good times. Take Care and God Bless!

Thank you Dale for a great hunt. Coming all the way from Denmark, without knowing anything about cougars, you and your team did a great job to help me out. By now I feel that I know these elusive animals way better. The first couple of days were stressful as we did not have any new snow or any tracks, but when that snowstorm came in the middle of the week, things turned around. It was great to see the dogs go up that mountain, barking, when we released them. But even more thrilling to meet them again some hours later by the tree. A great walk and a great moment to remember. I appreciate your efforts, the hard work from the guides and those amazing dogs. Thanks, Dale.

I would like to thank you and your crew for a great hunting experience. It was truly a hunt of a lifetime. Your guides are very knowledgeable and dedicated. They worked hard to assist me in harvesting my first cougar. I can’t wait to get it mounted. The State of Idaho was breathtaking and it was a thrill to see the Moose and Mule Deer while hunting. I’m looking forward to booking a hunt for Mule Deer in the future. Thanks again!

I was treated like part of the family. With what I do, I see a lot of outfitters and operations all over the world on a yearly basis. I must say that at Kindens, I felt like I was truly part of the family. I ended up harvesting a nice Bull Moose, but the trip was made by Marilyn and Everett... they are the best there is! This was my first guided hunt of any kind and I couldn't have had a better experience. The food was great, the accomodations were quite comfortable, and the guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. I was hoping for a big bear or a color phase and I was lucky enough to get a big cinnamon boar. Awesome. I will be back to Steeprock soon.

I hunted with Snipe Creek Lodge last year and had a blast. The weather was so cold that it made bow hunting nearly impossible, the moon was full and it was the last week of season. The expectations before arrival wasn't high to say the least. But I was very impressed with what I saw and the knowledge of Carl and Gail. The lodging and food was awesome and this was the 5th hunt I had been on that year. Even though I didn't harvest an animal I was very pleased with the effort that the outfitter gave our group. The outfitter never gave up on the hunting and was doing everything he could to put us on deer. His knowledge of the land and deer hunting in general was everything a hunter could ask for. I will return to Snipe Creek for another hunt.

Here we are again - 4th year in a row - 21 great men from a great church, ranging in age from 45 - 82. This place continues to be great fishing, lodging, weather, food. We have night fishermen and a group that holds a mini-golf tournament each night. We strongly recommend this place. The staff, the guides, the boats, the shore lunches, are great! But, this year the fishing was incredible as was the weather.

In our rush rush world of outdoors television production we sometimes forget that the lodges with the biggest fish that are the most remote and most expensive, aren't necessarily the best places to fish, and certainly not in a lot of cases the best places to relax. This year the BJ Outdoors crew had the opportunity, no, the privilege, of experiencing something we'd lost on our quest for the biggest most remote trophy. And, I can describe it with just 2 words, "True Serenity". Over the years we began to think if you could drive to the lake-everybody did-and now it's over fished. That logic simply doesn't apply to the one million acres of water, 65,000 miles of shoreline, and 14,000 islands that make up Lake of the Woods. Now that my crew has experienced the hospitality, great food, modern equipment,5 Star accommodations, excellent fishing, and good fellowship that is, "Red Indian Lodge" we're starting a list of those people who would like to come with us Spring 2007. The BJ Outdoors crew will be there shooting an early season Walleye show and would like anyone that's interested to join us. Our Hosts, Dan and Maureen Graham have assured us there'll be enough room for us to bring 20 or more people for a few days of fishing and relaxing. Email, call, or use the snail mail, but get it done soon so you don't miss out on the special deal I'll be able to offer the first 25 people that send deposits.

Spent two days with Pete. The first weekend we had to cancel due to unfortunate circumstances, he did tell me he was a 1 man outfitter, but three different people took me hunting?? They pu some corn out and left ya there. Needless to say I didn't even see a hog. $350.00 for 2 days, $80.00 room and then gas and food from Alabama. all together about $700.00 wasted. I know its 100% FAIR chase, but offer more, like maybe hunt with dogs to get the hunters at least to be able to see a pig!! I just felt they could've done a lot more to get a hog. Other than put some corn out and leave you for 4 hours.

My father and I had the pleasure of hunting with Blackduck Outfitters in September of 2007 in Manitoba. We have hunted with a number of waterfowl outfitters throughout Mississippi, Texas and Arkansas, but we found Canada to be a new experience. The ducks and geese where not call shy, and the variety of the game bagged was unparalleled. Black Duck Outfitters made certain that our experience, both in the field and back at the lodge, was memorable in every way. We'll definitely be back!

Just a quick note to let you know we had a great time yesterday. Justin is a superb guide -- works hard and a super caller. The only reason we didn't bring home more geese is solely because of our marksmanship. It was a pleasure to spend the day with him and we're already looking forward to a replay next season.

I've been blessed to be able to travel all over the country pursuing this great sport of hunting, one of the most difficult aspects of venturing into new areas is finding a trusted outfitter who is honest and forthright about his ground as well as his operation. I recently booked a Turkey hunt with S&J outfitters in Missouri, we had a great time, the food and accommodations were excellent as well as the hunting. I've booked a return trip this fall with the same outfitter as well as booking with S&J in Kansas for whitetail. Tracy, I just wanted to drop you a note thanking you for setting up my two friends and I with the Nebraska turkey hunt. The country is beautiful and there are more turkeys there than I've seen anywhere in my hunting travels. The guides, which quickly became friends, are knowledgeable about their areas and the birds habits. The accommodations were great! And the friendliest people anywhere live in that area! (My arm is still sore from waving!) Anyhow, thanks again. Two of us completed our Grand Slams! This was the first time I'd used an outfitter (always booked the hunts direct) but it won't be the last. You'll be seeing me again! Anxiously awaiting your South Dakota report, Richard Allen

Myself and one buddy had the ranch to ourselves for our hunt and both of us tagged out early and slept in the last morning. We saw hogs every time we went out. We had a blast chasing them in the creek bottom and trying to stalk in close enough for a pistol shot. There were hogs ranging from piglets to 250+. I spotted one that I estimated over 300 lbs. If we saw all those hogs with just the two of us in camp I can only imagine how many there would be if it had been booked with multiple hunters keeping the hogs up and moving. We're going back next year and looking forward to another great time.
