Nushagak River Adventures is one of the few real wood framed lodges on the lower Nushagak River. There are a number of tent camps to choose from but only ours gives you the comfort of a real lodge, real beds, gourmet meals and world class fishing guides.

Folks who stand elbow to elbow in more accessible waters are lucky to land just one king a day. Our guided fisherman average over a dozen landed King Salmon per person per day. This is the best King Salmon fishing in the world! Five species of Alaska salmon spawn into the Nushagak River: King Salmon (Chinook), Silver Salmon (Coho), Red Salmon (Sockeye), Chum Salmon and pink salmon (humpies, only on even numbered years).

Brad Giroux, a lifelong Alaska resident, invites you to stay and fish with us on the Nushagak River. Nushagak River Adventures Lodge has been operating for 9 years on the Nushagak River and with the final construction of the new lodge in 2001.

Nushagak River Adventures is one of the few real wood framed lodges on the lower Nushagak River.

Our lodge has comfortable heated rooms in the main bunkhouse. Cedar walls, real beds and down pillows in first class style! We also have hot showers and satellite internet. Bedrooms in the lodge can accommodate 2 to 4 anglers. Our excellent dinners may include halibut, salmon, pork chops, steaks or chicken. You will eat great every day. We serve a hot breakfast in the morning. Lunch can be back at the lodge or take a bag lunch and never leave the river.

Most of the land on the Nushagak River is owned by the Choggiung LTD Native Corporation. This limits the number of camps and anglers on the Nushagak. Nushagak River Adventures owns private land along the lower Nushagak River where we are allowed one of the very few real lodges on the river. Choggiung limits their camps to tent camps only and they must be removed each year. We have built our lodge to accommodate up to 30 people but limit the lodge to just 16 people per week.

Some of the best fishing is right in front of the lodge. Fish all day with your guide then battle the mighty king salmon after dinner back at the lodge.

The staff of the Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge will greet you at the Old Harbor Airport upon your arrival. We will transport you to the lodge, check you in, purchase fishing licenses, listen to a quick orientation and then enjoy a wonderful dinner. For your convenience, the lodge provides a shuttle service to and from the boat harbor although you may choose to walk, as the boat harbor is just a short distance from the lodge.

We troll for 30 to 90-pound king salmon with down riggers and light tackle. The peak trophy King Season runs from May 1st thorough July 15th, but they're here all year long- Our 2002 anglers landed kings weighing 82, 80, 75, 74, 71 and 70, with over thirty other kings over 60 pounds. In 2003 the largest kings were 77, 75 and 73 pounds. Ten to 22 pound Silvers arrive in early July and are fished in much the same way we fish for kings.

At Kodiak Sportsman's Lodge we utilize four custom-built aluminum catamarans 25' and 28' long by 10' wide. Each boat is five star Coast Guard rated, with full walk around cabins, fitted with twin engines, full marine heads, complete enclosed seating, complete electronics, top of -the line Loomis and Lamiglas graphite fishing rods, Shimano reels and all lures and bait. We have a few spinning outfits for the river fishermen, as well as a few fly fishing outfits available for use, but do not provide flies and generally recommend that you bring your own fly fishing gear. We fish 4 people per boat, with four individual downriggers and at least 100 square feet of fishing cockpit. We also have new jet boats for fishing our streams. Anglers will fish at least 8 hours per day, weather permitting and all of our captains are coast guard licensed. Gortex rainwear up to size 3X and 18" knee boots up to size 14 are also provided at the lodge.

Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge accommodates 16 guests. There are six double rooms with double beds and four single rooms with queen beds. A roll roll away bed can be added to your room for an additional guest if needed. Each room has a private bath and daily maid service is provided. Look forward to enjoying delicious meals in our spacious dining room. Our outstanding Alaskan chefs prepare a wide variety of local cuisine for you to sample. We also have an upstairs lounge with satellite television and wireless Internet. After a fantastic day of fishing you can download your photos and swap stories with other anglers while enjoying a cocktail in front of the fireplace.

Island Point Lodge in Petersburg, AK, offers a fantastic week of salmon and halibut fishing at an affordable price! Catch the fish of your dreams: King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Pink Salmon, Chum Salmon, Halibut, Cutthroat trout, Dolly Varden trout and Steelhead! Troll, spin cast, bottom fish and fly fish! Fishing is self guided and unlimited in time. A hot breakfast and dinner is served every day in the Lodge. The lodge is set up for the experienced fisherman with knowledge in operating outboard motors on small crafts. Our crafts are 18 foot Aluminum Alaskan Lunds with outboard motors operated from a side console. The operators must have the knowledge and the ability to read nautical maps. The Lodge will provide halibut and salmon charters in salt water for an additional charge. Details for charter guided trips can be obtained at the lodge or through the office.

The lodge has a charter boat available for halibut and salmon fishing, general sightseeing, whale watching and trips to LeConte or to Thomas Bay to view the icebergs and the glacier. Fly in charters to several lakes offer fantastic rainbow trout fishing in pristine mountain lakes as well as general sightseeing. Helicopter charters can land you atop one of our many glaciers.

Island Point Lodge personnel will guide you to some of the rivers which are active with salmon and trout. The fishing hours are unlimited, not like those of guided camps where fishing times are scheduled! Trolling for some salmon species is done directly in front of the lodge. This allows the fisherman an opportunity to fish from dawn (3 or 6 am) until breakfast, which are sometimes the most productive hours for fishing. Within five to forty five minutes from the lodge there are several rivers offering the spinner, caster and fly fisherman the opportunity to catch one or more of several species of salmon and trout.
