Information about Canada Fishing

Canada extends from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world’s second largest country by total area and has a very diverse geography. The Rocky Mountains, Appalachian Mountains, Canadian Prairies, coniferous forests to tundra, and many lakes and rivers are just a few of beauties that Canada has to offer.

OUTDOORSMAN aims to present only the most reputable outfitters and guides, however, we recognize that there is always potential for personality conflicts and misunderstandings. Therefore, we recommend that you use the 'outfitter submittal' forms to discuss your needs & expectations then gather more information and make an informed decision.

About Canoe Canada Outfitters

Spectacular sport fishing awaits the anglers on a wilderness canoe trip. We'll show you where the fish can be found. Since all travel is by canoe, fishermen practice catch and release fishing, only keeping what they need to eat. Even trophies are usually released, since it would be impractical to carry them out! Even remote fly in lakes are not as good for fishing as the waters of Quetico, since Quetico supports most of the major freshwater game fish: smallmouth bass, lake trout, walleye, northern pike, and even sturgeon.

Our route planners are experienced fishermen who know every lake in the park! While live bait fish are prohibited in Quetico Park, nightcrawlers and leeches are allowed. Most of our guests use artificial lures. The fishing is good enough, no live bait is really necessary. We have a complete selection in our tackle store. We strongly recommend the use of barbless hooks. We also have License Information available.

In the "Big Fish" category (according to guest reports), we had some lunkers taken again. Northern Pike - 23.5 lbs. (taken on Bow Lake); Walleye - 10.5 lbs. (taken at Dimple Lake); Lake Trout from Gamble Lake - 16 lb.; Smallmouth Bass at Sawbill Bay - 5.5 lb. Of course, these trophies are still in the lakes waiting for someone to try again next year.

Our catch and consume policy has been very successful over the years. We applaud our guests for their commitment to conservation. It was a pleasure working with all of you.

About Misaw Lake Lodge

Saskatchewan's most remote fishing and hunting destination. 2007 "Field & Stream" top 10 in North America for Trophy Pike, Lake Trout, and Arctic Grayling. Exclusive use of 15 lakes, maximum of 16 guests. Our aggressive fish management program, small guest capacity and moderate fishing pressure sums up to this: great angling and the opportunity to catch trophies will be guaranteed for years to come. See ya' on the dock!

Each morning at eight o'clock your experienced guide will motor you about our waters with one objective, to catch fish! As you travel across our waters you enjoy the comfort and safety of the Alumarine Pro Guide Boat, powered by a quiet 40hp, 4 stroke Yamaha motor. Each craft is equipped with approved life jackets, Loki catch and release nets and pike cradles. Your day will be highlighted by a fresh fish shore lunch prepared by your guide and for the afternoon you will again be on a hunt for huge Lake Trout.

Both Misaw Lake and the Schwandt River and our fly out lakes are only available to our 16 guests for their exclusive use. Unlike a lot of lodges, there are no expensive fly outs or long boat rides to reach trophy waters. Our lake harbors a vast number of Lake Trout and on any given day, your electronics screen can be covered with fish. Each season fishermen catch and release trophies in the 15 to 30 pound class and occasionally, fish up to 43 pounds. Unlike Pike, with Big Trout, the bigger the lure, the bigger the fish has never been more true than at Misaw Lake. Our big golden Lakers will and do challenge the best equipment and quite frankly, there is no better sound than the singing of a drag releasing line. Their strength is incredible and similar to reeling in a halibut off the ocean floor and then even a strong rod and an absolute knot have been known to fail. But patience and determination do pay off and the opportunity to land a trophy is excellent! The challenge starts here!!

Our fly-out program started in 2004 and has been a huge success.Misaw has exclusive use of 13 day use lakes, 8 of which have still never been fished. We added a boat to Nunim lake in June of 2007 . This lake has proven to be another fly-out winner with a daily record of 268 fish for one boat of which 41 were over 40". We will be adding another boat to a brand new lake for the 2008 season.

A great combination of being very remote and easily accessible with the new 4000 foot private strip. 2007 was my first time at Misaw. I was able to catch northern pike, laketrout and artic greyling all in the same few hours! The food and hospitality was excellent. I was pleasently surprised as I never expected the food to be so well done.
