About Canoe Canada Outfitters

Spectacular sport fishing awaits the anglers on a wilderness canoe trip. We'll show you where the fish can be found. Since all travel is by canoe, fishermen practice catch and release fishing, only keeping what they need to eat. Even trophies are usually released, since it would be impractical to carry them out! Even remote fly in lakes are not as good for fishing as the waters of Quetico, since Quetico supports most of the major freshwater game fish: smallmouth bass, lake trout, walleye, northern pike, and even sturgeon.

Our route planners are experienced fishermen who know every lake in the park! While live bait fish are prohibited in Quetico Park, nightcrawlers and leeches are allowed. Most of our guests use artificial lures. The fishing is good enough, no live bait is really necessary. We have a complete selection in our tackle store. We strongly recommend the use of barbless hooks. We also have License Information available.

In the "Big Fish" category (according to guest reports), we had some lunkers taken again. Northern Pike - 23.5 lbs. (taken on Bow Lake); Walleye - 10.5 lbs. (taken at Dimple Lake); Lake Trout from Gamble Lake - 16 lb.; Smallmouth Bass at Sawbill Bay - 5.5 lb. Of course, these trophies are still in the lakes waiting for someone to try again next year.

Our catch and consume policy has been very successful over the years. We applaud our guests for their commitment to conservation. It was a pleasure working with all of you.

About Misaw Lake Lodge

THE FISH - Dave Csanda said it best when he said " Misaw has an unusual strain of big pike and lots of them". Whether it’s Monster Northern Pike, acrobatic Arctic Grayling, or the giants of the deep Lake Trout, we have what you’re looking for. There have been 17 articles published and 5 televisions shows produced here. In 2007, Misaw Lake Lodge was ranked by "Field & Stream" magazine as one of the Top 10 fishing lodges in North America.

REMOTE & EXCLUSIVE - Misaw lake Lodge is Saskatchewan’s most remote. We are located aprox 1000 miles from the US border and 125 miles from the nearest road. We are the exclusive outfitter on Misaw and all of our 15 day use lakes. We don't share our waters with anybody!

EQUIPMENT - All of our Alumarine boats are equipped with Yamaha 40hp 4 strokes and comfortable Swivel seats, depth finders and down riggers. All of our fly-out boats are equiped with 2008 Mercury 4 stroke engines.

GETTING THERE - With the addition of our 4100ft airstrip, getting there is a breeze and getting home even easier. You will fly up on our own direct air charter from Winnipeg MB in time to have a fantastic meal and then out on the lake for a full day of fishing. On the way home, you will enjoy a hearty breakfast before loading the charter and be back in Winnipeg in time to catch your connecting flight.

Each morning at eight o'clock your experienced guide will motor you about our waters with one objective, to catch fish! As you travel across our waters you enjoy the comfort and safety of the Alumarine Pro Guide Boat, powered by a quiet 40hp, 4 stroke Yamaha motor. Each craft is equipped with approved life jackets, Loki catch and release nets and pike cradles. Your day will be highlighted by a fresh fish shore lunch prepared by your guide and for the afternoon you will again be on a hunt for huge Pike. Both Misaw Lake and the Schwandt River and our fly out lakes are only available to our 16 guests for their exclusive use. Unlike a lot of lodges, there are no expensive fly outs or long boat rides to reach trophy waters.

Our aggressive fish management program, small guest capacity and moderate fishing pressure sums up to this: great angling and the opportunity to catch trophies will be guaranteed for years to come. See ya' on the dock.

NORTHERN PIKE: What's your goal; a 38", a 43" or maybe even a 46" Northern? Well, how about a 48" or even a 50" Northern. In Fisherman's Dave Csanda said it best, "Misaw Lake has an unusual strain of big Pike and lots of them." With world class Pike available, it's easy to understand why Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, The Next Bite, North American Fishing Club, In Fisherman, Field & Stream, Fly Fishing Quarterly, New Jersey Record, Detroit Free Press and fishermen from around North America talk about Misaw Lake.

From mid June to mid July sight fishing is almost guaranteed. There is nothing more exciting than a huge Northern making a V in the clear shallow water as it races to your lure and then watching the water explode right in front of you. Fly fishermen also find this period as the ultimate thrill to fly fishing for one of the largest fresh water fish available. These big Pike will test the skills of the best fisherman and strain their equipment to the ultimate performance. From mid July on, as the fish become fat for the long winter pulling them out of the cabbage is a thrill you'll have to experience. At Misaw Lake our board fish must be 40" and although this is high, I have no doubt you will join countless others on our board of fame. With 26 miles of clear Misaw Lake water and 30 miles of the Scwandt River available to you for your "exclusive use" you will experience a variety of habitat as your guide motors you across our waters on a "hunt" for Monster Pike. "Come prepared" for the thrill of your lifetime!

LAKE TROUT: Our lake harbors a vast number of Lake Trout and on any given day, your electronics screen can be covered with fish. Each season fishermen catch and release trophies in the 15 to 30 pound class and occasionally, fish up to 43 pounds. Unlike Pike, with Big Trout, the bigger the lure, the bigger the fish has never been more true than at Misaw Lake. Our big golden Lakers will and do challenge the best equipment and quite frankly, there is no better sound than the singing of a drag releasing line. Their strength is incredible and similar to reeling in a halibut off the ocean floor and then even a strong rod and an absolute knot have been known to fail. But patience and determination do pay off and the opportunity to land a trophy is excellent! The challenge starts here!!

ARCTIC GRAYLING: Within fifteen minutes of the lodge the lake flows into the Scwandt River, and is home to some of the best Arctic Grayling fishing in Saskatchewan. Each season we see Grayling in the 20" class caught and up to 17" are quite common, often weighing up to three pounds. These fish are masters of fast water normally lying among the huge rocks on the river floor waiting for their next meal. Hooking a Grayling in fast water is awesome to say the least. They are acrobatic, jumping and peeling line in an effort to escape and often their energy is so tumultuous they are near death when finally landed........They do require the most delicate handling and no one can help, but to admire their prism colors as they race to return the sailfish of the north to its home. This fish will certainly be in your conversations for years to come!

FLY OUTS: Our fly-out program started in 2004 and has been a huge success.Misaw has exclusive use of 13 day use lakes, 7 of which have still never been fished. We added a boat to Nunim lake in June of 2007 . This lake has proven to be another fly-out winner with a daily record of 268 fish for one boat of which 41 were over 40". We added a new boat to Goyer Lake in 2008. This proved to be another winner with numerous days of over 200 fish.

A great combination of being very remote and easily accessible with the new 4000 foot private strip. 2007 was my first time at Misaw. I was able to catch northern pike, laketrout and artic greyling all in the same few hours! The food and hospitality was excellent. I was pleasently surprised as I never expected the food to be so well done.
