About Grey River Lodge
Ours is a total wilderness experience offering big game hunting for Woodland Caribou, Black Bear and Moose, upland wingshooting for Ptarmigan, hiking, fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon and nature viewing. Our guests access modern remotely located lodges via an exhilarating helicopter trip over an unspoiled picturesque landscape. Imagine, the nearest community is 14 miles away and is itself isolated, with no roads and outside access by boat and helicopter only. The closest road of any kind is 25 minutes away via helicopter @ 120 MPH.
With the highest populations of moose in North America, extremely healthy woodland caribou herds and some of the largest black bears found anywhere, Newfoundland provides tremendous opportunity for big game hunters. This, coupled with the remote locations of our hunting lodges and the associated low wilderness hunting efforts, even further increases chances of bagging one of these prized trophies. Those interested in bow hunting are very welcome, as are black powder hunters. We also extend a special invitation to couples, including non-hunting spouses, who will find our modern accommodations very favorable.
Our hunting is highly controlled, with limited numbers of permits available for each big game species in order to at least maintain existing population levels. Overall success rates at our lodges for the past ten years have been over 80% for moose and virtually 100% for woodland caribou. A very incidental hunt for bear has taken one or two per year, but they would usually be in the 400-500 pound range and the hunters involved would most likely have taken both moose and caribou on the same hunt as well.
As always, our big game hunts are being reserved farther and farther in advance as each year goes by. Moose hunts in particular are usually filled more than a year ahead and our focus on archery hunting has put our services in even more demand by those seeking a very special wilderness adventure.

About Kinden's Quinn Lake Outfitters
Kinden's Quinn Lake Outfitters Ltd. is a fully licensed "drive in" hunting and fishing camp. We have welcomed guests from all over the United States and Canada, who we are proud to say, thoroughly enjoyed their hunting experience. Our lodge is located on an old woods road, roughly 50 km (about 30 miles) from the scenic municipality of Millertown, located in the Central area of our beautiful island. Any "serious" hunter looks for serious guides, who have the experience and know how to help them bag their prize animal. At our camp that's exactly what you receive. We're not just offering you the hunting experience of a lifetime, but a personal invitation to get to know some of the friendliest people in the world. We offer wilderness hunting for Moose and Black Bear and water teeming with fish, rugged, untouched natural beauty, and one of the most breathtaking hunting trips you will ever embark on. Everett Kinden, also referred to as "The Big E" by his friends, has been guiding in the Millertown area for over 26 years. He is an avid hunter, as all guides should be, and knows the tree stands, lakes, and bogs like the back of his hand.
Everett started out guiding in the Millertown area and has remained true to the woods he loves. If you are lucky enough to get to know this colourful character, one of the first things you will observe is his passion and respect for the woods, and the wildlife that inhabit it.
Everett and the other employees of the camp will do whatever they can to ensure you come home with the animal you are looking for.
The moose hunting season is a long awaited time of year in Newfoundland and Labrador. In the fall of the year, both men and women can be seen loading their vehicles in preparation for "a few days in the country". This is also an exciting time of the year for our humble company. Our moose hunting season begins the first week of September (for 2008 hunt) and concludes in mid - November. The first two weeks of the hunt, however, are reserved for a different breed of wildlife and outdoor enthusiast - the bow hunter. We accommodate all types of hunters, even those who use the bow. Our guides take interested parties into the wilderness of Area 17 with the hopes of bagging a prize moose. There are an estimated 120,000 moose on the island of Newfoundland. Why not book your trip now, so you can have the hunt of lifetime?
The bear hunt is also a special time of the year for our outfitting camp. Hunting these large and often intimidating animals is nothing like stalking a moose or caribou. Weeks before your arrival, Everett or one of his trusted guides can be found scouring the wilderness of Area 17, tracking these huge beasts and dispersing bait to lure them near a tree stand, located roughly 30 feet above the ground, yet close enough to the bait to let you get a clean shot at the animal. Your guides repeat this ritual, so the bear will return to that very spot for its daily dose of food. While you wait patiently in the seclusion of a tree stand, the animal will hopefully waltz by, allowing you to take aim and bag your bear. There are an estimated 10,000 Black Bears on the island, some weigh in excess of 500 lbs. Can't make it in the fall? That's fine, we offer both spring and fall bear hunts.
It isn't only the big game that attracts hunters in droves - it's the abundance of small game. Rabbit, grouse, partridge, duck, and other water foul are a dime a dozen in Area 17. After bagging your big game, you can go after one of these beautiful animals. There are numerous ponds, lakes and streams in the area, many of which these beautiful birds call home. Small game hunting is a favorite pastime of many Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. Throughout the hunting season, you are sure to see a rabbit snare carefully hidden in the trees, or the howl of an old Beagle or other bird dog in the midst of a chase. Life in these parts is a little more laid back, the stresses of the regular day seem to fade away with the sunset, and usually don't return until long after you have left us. Sound nice? Why not drop us a line?

Newfoundland Black Bear Hunts: There are an estimated 6,000 to 10,000 black bear in the province.
