The peacock bass is the common name in English for several species of tropical, freshwater fish native to the Amazon River basin of South America. These tropical fish are not true basses, but are rather cichlids. There are five known species of peacock bass including: speckled/three-barred peacock bass, butterfly peacock bass, and royal peacock bass. They are prized game fish due to their fighting qualities, known as freshwater bullies for their ferocious nature when hunting and their tendency to damage and sometimes destroy fishing gear when striking.

Bass fishing in Mexico at Lakes Huites and El Salto is the best Bass fishing in the world. The Florida Strain Largemouth Bass are lurking in these Mexican lakes. Trophy Bass over 19 pounds have been boated in Mexico. It is the opinion of many that the World Record will be caught here. Lake El Salto (record 18 lbs 8 oz) and Lake Huites (record 15 lbs 3 oz caught by Wild Bill) continue to excite Anglers with the large numbers and size of bass. It's the place to go for heavy action and bass up to and over 12 lbs. You can get in on the excitement of Amateur Bass Tournaments - already a great success! And what about the Amazon...
