Information about Quebec Hunting

Outdoorsman.com Features Quebec's Top Hunting Guides, Hunting Outfitters, and Hunting Lodges offering Quebec Caribou hunts, Quebec Black Bear hunts, Quebec Moose hunts, and Quebec Wolf hunts. Our listed Quebec hunting guides, hunting outfitters, and hunting lodges are some of the best in the industry and are proven professionals that offer World Class Trophy Quebec hunts.

The province of Quebec is located in the eastern region of Canada and is the largest province by area. The official language of Quebec is French, although many speak English as well. More than 90 percent of Quebec’s area lies within the Canadian Shield, a rough, rocky terrain sculpted by successive ice ages. The tree-covered Appalachian Mountains flank the eastern portion of the province, and much of it’s border is formed by beautiful coastline.

OUTDOORSMAN aims to present only the most reputable outfitters and guides, however, we recognize that there is always potential for personality conflicts and misunderstandings. Therefore, we recommend that you use the 'outfitter submittal' forms to discuss your needs & expectations then gather more information and make an informed decision.

About Wedge Hills Lodge

Experience a tradition of adventure in the comfort of our camps and the kindness of a devoted team built up through generations. Infinity of immense territories, caribou by the thousands, the largest rivers, salmon in abundance, tundra with fire-like colors… Wedge Hills is proud to share a dream for more than 45 years.

Wedge Hills, it is the passion of Albert Fortier and his daughter, Suzelle, for another world; where the caribou cross per thousands, where the largest salmon go up the current and where the landscapes are infinite. Beside them, a team of guides and staff devoted to help and to support you, and to make your stay a success. All this in a comfortable lodge and country cottages, animated by a hunting tradition and breathtaking scenery.

Enjoy a complete style of service second to none! – The beauty of the reception area, the comfort of the lodge and cabins, two dining rooms and a large recreation room for leisure activities all contribute to an excellent family-like atmosphere. At the lodge, you will be served healthy and various Canadian style meals. And our guides will help you get ready for each outing and will handle all the details. Our butcher will set up your game meat, refrigerate it and finally package it in specially insulated boxes which keep the content frozen for at least one week so that you can take it home without any problems.

Over the George River and its vast hills, or in one of our satellite camps north of Schefferville, surrounded by lakes and the Nordic Forest, you will closely experience the great spectacle of the caribou migration. In small groups (1 to 3 hunters), accompanied with a professional hunting Guide you will be taken on water or on land to the passage of animals.

The autumn hunting season usually offers you a lenient weather, the particular hue of the surrounding Tundra, and spectacular multicolored aurora borealis. Besides, once you reached your quota (2 animals per person), it is also possible to tease salmon, trout and Arctic char due to the excellent fishing opportunities that abound in Wedge Hills. You can even enjoy bear hunting for an incredible complete wildlife experience.

About Arctic Adventures

OUTDOORSMAN.COM OUTFITTER OF THE MONTH - SEPTEMBER 2008

Arctic Adventures is an Inuit-owned outfitting organization with more than three decades of experience hosting hunters and anglers in Nunavik, Quebec's arctic region. Over the years, Arctic Adventures has built an enviable reputation for consistently providing our guests with quality caribou hunting and fishing vacations and personalized professional service.

Quebec-Labrador Caribou hunts requires careful planning and attention to detail. Arctic Adventures' hunts are organized to provide our hunters with a memorable experience on the tundra. When you book a hunt with us, you know where you will be hunting with a maximum of eight hunters in camp. You can expect to relax and enjoy five full days of exciting caribou hunting, trout fishing and northern adventure.

Due to the superb locations of our caribou hunting camps, our success rate for two mature bulls has been close to 100% over the past ten years. All our camps are warm, clean and comfortable with shower facilities, generated electricity and satellite telephone service. You may hunt caribou with rifle, black powder or bow. Our guides know their territories and how to adjust to each hunter's equipment and capabilities of big game hunting. Each guide strives to conduct a safe and successful caribou hunt.

Guests' satisfaction is what drives our efforts and we know what hunters appreciate. Friendly, courteous hard-working staff await each group of hunters. Our camp cooks know that "good food and plenty of it" makes hunters happy. We continually receive compliments on the comfort of our camps and the quality of food we serve. Attention to detail is what sets us apart.

After you’ve produced hunting shows for a while, you come to understand there are perfect animals and perfect places for making great programs. There are perfect outfitters, too. Taping is so much more fruitful – and enjoyable – when you’re with the right kind of outfitter and guide. And frankly, we’ve never found any better than Steve Ashton and his entire crew at Arctic Adventures.

There aren’t many guarantees in the world of hunting and fishing but Arctic Adventures comes as close as you can get. Their camps are open only during the peak seasons, and all the camps are strategically located on prime fishing and hunting areas. They can’t make the fish bite, they can’t make the Caribou appear, and they can’t control the weather, but they can - and do - control everything else really well, and that’s the sign of a great outfitter. When we travel with Arctic Adventures we don’t worry about anything, we know the entire staff have us covered with our best interests and safety in mind. Add in the incredible fishing, hunting, wildlife and scenery that we’ve experienced while guests of Arctic Adventures and you have all the reasons we keep coming back!

Great fishing. No, unbelievable fishing, to the point where the char literally wore out our arms. A visit to the Payne River Fishing Camp is much more than just a great fishing trip. It is a total experience, an opportunity to spend time in the land beyond the tree line where the summer days are long and the nights are short. Sharing this experience with a friend was rewarding and whenever we fish, wherever we fish we will remember fly fishing for Arctic char on the Payne Fjord and River.

The Payne Bay camps were every bit as comfortable as I have come to expect from Arctic Adventures. First class all the way! Carol and Calvin do a great job of managing the camp: everything runs smoothly, and Carol’s cooking is wonderful! But what really impressed me is the fishing. As you know I’ve fished a lot of different places, including many in Canada, and this was simply the best fishing trip I have ever been on. The char are big, incredibly tough fighters and are more than willing to take a fly. They are also the best eating fish in the world, and abundant enough that you don’t feel guilty about taking a few.
