Information about Yukon Hunting
Yukon is the westernmost of Canada’s three territories and harbors the second highest mountain in North America – Mount Logan. The very sparsely populated territory abounds with snow-melt lakes and perennial white-capped mountains. The Yukon’s major appeal is its nearly pristine nature and there are many outfitters and guides available to hunters, anglers, and nature lovers of all sorts. On the long cold clear nights of winter, nature provides the ultimate natural spectacle in the form of aurora borealis.
OUTDOORSMAN aims to present only the most reputable outfitters and guides, however, we recognize that there is always potential for personality conflicts and misunderstandings. Therefore, we recommend that you use the 'outfitter submittal' forms to discuss your needs & expectations then gather more information and make an informed decision.

About Pete Jensen Outfitting
OUTDOORSMAN.COM OUTFITTER OF THE MONTH - JULY 2008
The outfit is solely owned and operated by Pete and Sharon Jensen. Pete has been guiding and outfitting for 41 years. He doesn't usually guide any longer. He feels that the enthusiastic young guides can give the hunters a great hunting experience. Sharon cooks at base camp and does the go-for work. We hire 4 guides for the season. They seem to like the working conditions and area, and therefore usually stay for some time. Each hunter is supplied with a guide.
We have the Alaska Yukon Moose. The largest one we have taken is 72 inches. Our yearly average is usually 57 to 59 inches. We hunt the moose in the rut, which starts the end of August through to the middle of Oct. We have 10 day moose hunts that you can add a caribou and grizzly to. You carry the tags and only pay for the additional animals when you take them.
The Yukon is on a quota system for Grizzlies. We hunt grizzly as an add-on to another hunt. You only have to ask for a tag when you book. Our grizzly run between 6 1/2 and 8 feet. We have a very good grizzly population in the area. The grizzly makes a nice add on to the 10 day moose, and caribou hunts.
We have both Dall and Fannin Sheep in the area. Our average length of horn has run between 36 and 38 for years. The largest sheep that we ever took was 43 1/2. Hunting for sheep is done on horseback, glassing is done from the valley. Climbing and final stalk is done on foot.
We have a resident herd of barren-ground Caribou. We hunt this herd throughout our regular season. In August they are in velvet and make nice mounts. We have taken a lot of nice caribou with some going in the Boone and Crocket book. The latest and largest one to go in the book measured 441 points.
