It’s no secret that New Zealand has outstanding fishing! From fly fishing our stunning rivers and backcountry streams to coastal sport fishing and deep sea fishing for the biggest striped marlin in the World, New Zealand offers numerous fishing opportunities to cater for all tastes and skill levels.

Heli Fishing: Heli fishing is available at Alpine Hunting's north Island lodge for any hunters booking a 7 night hunt between March and late April. For private group bookings, heli fishing is also available outside of our hunting season between October and February.

Our Alpine Hunting team includes our very own guides in the nearby Lake Taupo region for trout and spin fishing, and we’ve also teamed up with NZ’s top game fishing skipper Geoff Lamond for game fishing charters and the ultimate NZ hunt n’ fish adventure. Our hunting lodge is situated near the headwaters of the magnificent Rangitikei River, and with our very own private river boundary available exclusively for our guests it would be hard for anyone to beat such a great opportunity to experience the great New Zealand outdoors.

If you'd like to take a short break in the middle of your hunting day to fish the Rangitikei River, your hunting guide can take you to our River boundary to enjoy the tranquil and scenic setting that is accessible only to our hunting guests. In the warmer months, if you're nice to our chef he may even prepare a picnic lunch you can enjoy on our private landing as you dabble in some catch and release trout fishing. (We have 3 miles of river frontage however due to difficult terrain only limited access is available between February and late April by request only).

This hunt was the most incredible, exclusive, honest, hard-working, exciting, inspiring experience I have had the pleasure to be on. It was my first "Guided" hunt and I was a bit skeptical as I am not used to being led by the hand. BUT, the staff and Guides are AWESOME and made this the MOST INCREDIBLE and Rewarding Hunt I have been on. Shane Quinn runs a TOP Notch Operation and you WILL NOT come away unsatisfied. Special thanks and extended handshake to my guide Ian whom I now consider a close personal friend.

Shane Quinn and his entire staff run a first class operation. We were there during the roar, amazing! Highly recommend Alpine Hunting if a stag is on your list. The hunt can be tailored to your physical condition and ability, and make sure you go to the south island for the tar and chamios!

The World’s most Exceptional Red Stag and Unbeatable Premier Hunt Experience! It’s a claim that we at Alpine Hunting New Zealand don’t make lightly. Once you’ve experienced our superior hunting habitat it will come as no surprise that since 1992 we have become the standout supplier of World Record Red Stag heads as well as all other New Zealand species as detailed in our Hall of Fame. At Alpine Hunting New Zealand we retain an enviable reputation for maintaining the highest possible standards in professionally organizing and implementing New Zealand Trophy Hunts. We have an exclusive high country property and private lodge in the Central North Island, and guides who are experienced, well respected and amongst the best in the business!

The abundance of premium game and the quality of our team have afforded us international recognition as the South Pacific’s unequalled hunting destination and the ability to “set the standards” our competition still strives to achieve. Alpine Hunting is seriously committed to supplying “Trophy Quality Heads” and the premier experience we’ve built our reputation on... but not at the expense of some “good ol’ kiwi fun”. Since our humble beginnings, Alpine Hunting has grown immensely. First of all into a highly professional hunting operation with a rock solid infrastructure but most importantly, into a “family” of long term team members where everyone from our housekeeper to our pilots and guides take pride in what we do without forgetting to have fun along the way.

When you stay with us, we emphasize an informal environment with all the comforts of home. We look forward to the evenings when we can all sit together around our huge dining table and we can swap stories and laughs. Nothing makes us happier than being able to share your excitement when you “bag” the trophy you’ve traveled so far to hunt, and the opportunity to make new friends along the way.

There are no internal fences at Alpine Hunting - all species run together and you’ll hunt for your trophies from an abundance of game. We believe that convenience is the key to a successful hunt and have created an environment where we can maximize opportunities and accessibility to the game. When you hunt with us, you will not have to spend any time driving to hunt every day because it’s all right here!
