About Northern Pride Outfitters

Welcome to Northern Pride Outfitters. We pride ourselves in repeat hunters each year. Our hunters have quickly become our close friends.

We hunt on 75,000 acres of bush and heavy forestland, and 15,000 acres of privately owned land, in the heart of some of the best whitetail deer hunting you will find.

Northern Pride Outfitters have been outfitting for over 20 years. We live on the land we hunt, and run a large cattle ranch. Living here allows us to scout the area with ease. We have a winter feeding program that helps keep the deer in the area, as well as insuring the deer maintain good health even during the long, cold winter months. During the rifle season, we mainly hunt over baits. We spend some time hunting the fields, also. We have many different types of stands, including: enclosed huts, climbers, loungers, ladder stands and lock-ons. You will spend the whole day in your stand, so be prepared for the cold. We do offer propane heaters for those extremely cold days.

Whitetail deer in Saskatchewan range from 120-200 class B&C point bucks. We have both typical and non-typical deer. We primarily hunt over baits in remote forest area.

We also have area that borders the farm land.

Our hunts are 6 days long. We encourage you to fly into either Edmonton Alberta or Saskatoon Saskatchewan. It is best to fly in on Saturday, and travel out to camp on Sunday afternoon. We include tags, taxes, accommodation, excellent home cooked meals, hide and horn prep as well as a meat processing facility and freezers.

We have an abundance of all color phases of bear, including: blond, cinnamon, and black. Our area near Meadow Lake is home to some of the largest bears you will find in Saskatchewan. Bear can be hunted with a bow, rifle or muzzleloader.

We offer both spring and fall bear hunts. During the spring hunt, you will have time to hunt for sheds and fish on the lake.

If you chose to hunt a bear in the fall, we also offer a combination hunt, which includes a bear hunt as well as hunting a deer with either a muzzleloader or bow. The deer are hunted in the alfalfa fields at that time. The combination hunt lasts 10 days.

Our hunts include tags, taxes, accommodation, excellent home cooked meals, hide and horn prep as well as a meat processing facility and freezers.

Our camp is located 13 miles west of Loon Lake, Saskatchewan. It is located on Murphy Lake, which is about ½ hour east of the Alberta border in North Western Saskatchewan. Edmonton is 4 hours from camp and Saskatoon is 3 ½ hours. We encourage our hunters to fly into Edmonton though, as you can go through customs there. Transportation to our camp is not included in the price. We can arrange for single and small groups of hunters to meet up, and car pool to our camp.

I have hunted all over the world and, with a doubt, Robert and Brenda; owners of Northern Pride Outfitters, are the hardest working, funniest, good time making people I have ever met. The hunt is only a small portion of my trip, and to be in camp with these two is a joy. Robert is straight forward and he works harder maintaining his hunting allotment than anyone I have ever hunted with. He will maintain baits that he has no intention of hunting this year, just because the deer need the additional browse in the winter, and he knows, from pictures on his trail cams that very nice deer are hitting these baits. This way he never saturates a given area with hunters. Deer are given relief from hunting pressure and they will be much bigger in one/two years.
Brenda is a master cook. But she makes you feel like part of her extended family. She remembers personal stories that you told her from years back and there is nothing that she will not try to do for you, given her location and circumstances. Lloyd is a wealth of Saskatchewan history and at 80+ he runs circles around me. Montie, the newlywed, has access to property that he grew up around and he will make sure that you enjoy the hunt. There are other guides but space will not allow me to outline each one. Suffice it to say that I always see the same guides, year after year. Robert and Brenda treat these men right and they consider it a wonderful opportunity to work for Northern Pride.
When you get to meet Brenda, ask her what Robert likes her to do when they go to rebait certain hunting stands. These folks are a riot. Oh yeah, the 10 and 11 pointers that I shot are great trophies. We had a legitimate 175, 10 pt shot the 3rd day of my week. Northern Pride Outfitters has great deer, and wonderful accommodations. But most of all, Robert and Brenda make this trip better and better every year. Give them a "shot", you will not be dissapointed. Wade Gastin

When I sign on for a deer hunt, I'm looking for only one thing: A trophy. And there aren't many places where you can find them these days. Robert Preece, owner of Northern Pride Outfitters, has been using deer management practices for many years. I've hunted with several outfitters in four Canadian provinces and several states and Robert has more trophy deer than any other outfitter I have ever seen. It isn't realistic to expect to shoot a 170 inch every year, but your odds of doing so are outstaning at Northern Pride.

The folks at Northern Pride, Robert, Brenda, Lloyd and Monte, work very hard to assure that your need are met, both in and off the field. They take you to box blinds and tree stands that meet the demands of the terrain before first light. They pick you up at a pre-arranged time at day's end and take you back to camp where you will get a delicious dinner prepared by an exquisite cook. Evenings are usually spent in the "Liars Den" swapping tales about the day's hunt. When you are ready to retire for the evening, you will enjoy the clean, comfortable accommodations.

If you want a first-class deer hunt with some really fine folks, Northern Pride has to be on your bucket list. You'll come as a client, leave as a friend, and look forward to seeing their smiling faces at next year's hunt. Tom Banks

We have hunted with Northern Pride for several years and have never been disappointed. There is always a chance of getting an opportunity to bag a really nice buck. Being a lady, they take me just as serious as any other hunter which I appreciate greatly. Robert and Brenda make sure every thing you need is there and all you have to worry about is putting the shot where it counts. Love you guys - The Lundays - Colmbia Falls Montana.

I learned about Northern Pride Outfitters through my friend Tom Banks that I have shared several hunting trips to Canada with since 2004. Tom hunted with Northern Pride in 2010 and stated they met our common goals of being upfront, honest, and would work to allow a patient hunter a chance to take a nice buck.

Northern Pride has no hidden fees, was honest about the expectations of their hunts, and worked hard each day going through countless trail camera photos trying to find an active shooter deer in an area for each hunter.

Camp accomodations are nice. Rooms are clean and large enough for a hunter and his gear. Many nice mounted deer and tons of sheds decorate the TV and lounge areas of the camp. The large commons dining area is headed up by the heart of the operation master cook, driver, planner, secretary, and chief bottle washer Brenda Preece. What a tireless worker she is... and she manages great planned meals each day.

Hunt stands are varied running from agricultural, forest, cutover areas, and cutlines. I prefer tree stands but well placed box blinds are the logical choice in some areas.

Robert, Brenda, and Lloyd Preece along with Monte & Darcy Ludwig and neighbor Sharon will do what they can to help you to have a great hunt. Macy and Dixie are two border collies that liven up the hunt camp, melt your heart, and make sure you do not over sleep for your hunt.

I have been here once to share a hunt and week with a good friend. I hope to return again soon to share a week with my old friend and with the new friends I made .....Tim, Wade, Robert, Brenda, Lloyd, Monte, Darcy, Sharon, Macy, and Dixie Dog ....in 2011. Grab a friend and enjoy and adventure near Loon Lake.

I have hunted the past two years with Northern Pride. What a wonderful experience it has been and I have booked again for 2012. Robert, Brenda, Lloyd and crew work hard to insure your experience is successful as well as relaxing. I have harvested a 155 inch and a 138 inch buck on the last days of my hunt for the meat as prior days I passed on multiple 150 inch deer in hopes of that net B/C buck. The days are full of deer encounters and many deer that net score in the 140 and bigger. It is well worth your time and money to experience the hunting Northern Pride has to offer. Thank you to my friend at Northern Pride and I can not wait to see you in November 2012. Terry Sivertson
