SCTH offers both game estate and free range hunting on our privately owned ranch near beautiful Kaikoura. We suggest that you bring a flat shooting rifle no smaller than a .270 caliber. Most shots are less than 150 yards, but they may be as far as 300 yards. A box of ammunition (20 rounds) should be plenty for your hunt, but it’s best to bring two boxes just in case you decide to add trophies.

SCTH provides hunts on foot, in four-wheel drive vehicles, and/or by helicopter. New Zealand terrain is steep, so you’ll enjoy your hunt more if you’re in good shape. But don’t worry. We guarantee an opportunity for trophy game to ALL clients. As we said, SCTH will customize hunts to meet our clients’ needs.

Located high in the hills above the Spey Creek Valley, the Spey Creek Trophy Hunting Ranch is situated on the east coast of the South Island of New Zealand. The trophy hunting ranch is ideally located approximately 45 minutes' drive from Kaikoura and two hours' drive from Christchurch International Airport.

The Spey Creek Trophy Hunting lodge was completed in 2007 from timber grown and milled here on the ranch. Our four bedroom, four bath, 3,000 square foot luxury lodge is richly furnished and designed to meet your every need. Relax in the hot tub or in front of our cosy fireplace after a fun day hunting.At Spey Creek Trophy Hunting Lodge, your comfort and enjoyment are our priority. Our luxurious guest bedrooms are lavishly appointed, each with a private ensuite bathroom, king-sized feather bed with best quality linens and down comforters - you'd never guess you're roughing it at a hunting lodge!

Every meal at Spey Creek Trophy Hunting Lodge is carefully prepared on site with fresh, local produce. Our chef Neroli (John's partner) also owns the local winery, so you can be assured of some great wine matches with your meals! The lodge boasts a full gourmet kitchen and bar area (see below), offering mouth-watering food and refreshments to meet your requirements throughout the day.
