About Spotted Horse Ranch
Whatever your dream of the West, it’s real here at the Spotted Horse Ranch. The valley cradling the Hoback River has been cultivated by working ranchers for generations. As times changed, the simple log homes and rustic barns gave way to guest ranches for the "dudes" who came up from the cities. Fresh air, unspoiled natural surroundings, and the feeling that time is suspended were in demand then and still in ample supply.
The Spotted Horse Ranch has been Outfitting hunters since 1961. We have two camps, as well as ten guest cabins at the ranch. We currently own more than fifty horses, so we will be sure to have one to suit your style. Elk, Deer, and Moose hunts take place from our Hunter Creek Camp, located sixteen miles into the backcountry. This camp is the larger of the two, in the heart of 152,000 acres of the Bridger-Teton National Forest.
Antelope Hunting is a day hunt from the Ranch. Transportation by vehicle and all meals are provided. A typical antelope hunt would be: Breakfast at the Ranch at 5:30, depart for hunting areas by six A.M. A sack lunch is provided. We usually return to the ranch by seven P.M. for dinner.
Jackson Hole attracts visitors from around the world with legendary skiing and winter adventure and hundreds of thousands of acres of spectacular back country to discover in all seasons. The Town of Jackson hosts galleries, shops, museums, and restaurants that offer a wide variety of experiences – from barbecue to haute cuisine, and from western art to contemporary, it’s alive in Jackson. Two national parks, Grand Teton and Yellowstone, draw several million people a year to take in the amazing array of geographic features, geysers, and wildlife.

Such amenities as a heated shower tent, large cook and dining tent, and running water are in place during the summer season as well as the fall hunting season. Accommodations are canvas wall tents, 10’X12’, each equipped with wood stove for heat, cots, pads, nightstands, and lights. Hunters sleep two to a tent. Two private restroom facilities are available. Dining is in our spacious cook tent, and meals are served family style. Soda pop, Water, juice and beer are provided to each hunter. We are happy to pack any other beverages to camp for you. While hearty food is the rule, special diets can be attended to as well.
On arrival at the Spotted Horse Ranch, you will have all the amenities of the Ranch available for you use, including lodging in one of our guest cabins, hot-tub, sauna, and all meals. We can transport you to a 100-yard range just south of Jackson to check your rifle. To ensure that our horses stay fresh and healthy, we rotate each day to a different horse. Two horses and a saddle will be selected for you for the following days ride into Hunter Creek Camp. Scabbards and saddlebags are provided as well. Wyoming State Law allows up to six hunters to one guide in our area, but we have found that two to one gives not only a better quality hunt, but increases our success ratio as well.
You will have a total of seven nights in Hunter Creek Camp, riding/hunting, out on day eight to return to the ranch. All meat and trophies are cared for by experienced packers, and transported to the ranch to our walk-in meat cooler. Meat processing and taxidermy are both available in Jackson. The country we hunt is steep and rugged, and much hunting will be done on foot as well as horseback; please consider the physical nature of such a hunt.

The experience of ranch life at the Spotted Horse is a dramatic departure from the way most people spend their day. The pace is leisurely, with hearty home-cooked meals served in the lodge dining room. Explore the wilderness surrounding the Ranch through a float trip, horseback ride, overnight trip or a hike. The quaint saloon hasn’t changed much in 40 years and is located in the main lodge along with a pool table and great room. Indoors or out, the Spotted Horse is an idyllic island of peace and quiet in a busy world.
After the cookout, the grill cools down and the campfire heats up. Some guest compare stories about their stay as others amble back across the river, eyeing the hot tub and thinking of a late night soak. Some chat with the Ranch hands, comfortable with everything they have experienced. Although their stay is nearly over, the memories are just beginning. The Spotted Horse Ranch is what the West is all about. This guest ranch is an outpost of unpretentious comfort in the center of spectacular mountain country.
