We offer a 4-5 week wilderness outdoor guide school, and 10 day outfitter or hunter and adventurer training programs near Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness.

Additionally, we are the only school to offer additional certificates beyond your diploma in Bow Hunting Safety Education, Trapper Safety and Ethics Education, and Wilderness First Aid.

Swan Mountain Wilderness Guide School’s program for outfitters is the only one of its kind. Focused solely on the business knowledge necessary to be a successful outfitter, this ten day course covers all aspects of running the business side of an outfit including accounting, legal, regulatory, marketing and employee recruitment and retention.

Swan Mountain Wilderness Guide School’s program for trail ride wranglers is once again, the only one of its kind. Designed to specifically train people on how to wrangle so they can work at a dude ranch or trail ride operation, this course has no equal. Given the popularity of our programs and presence on the web, we have received hundreds of inquiries from folks who would like to be trained on the specifics of being a top notch packer. While we cover packing in many of our courses, there appears to be demand for a standalone course on mule packing. Training to be a packer is quite different from our other programs. In this course packer candidates will learn all the facets of how to pack mules and horses. We will cover mule behavior in detail and go over all aspects of knots and packing techniques.

Waterfowl guide candidates will learn all facets of how to become a top notch guide for ducks & geese. In the spirit of innovation that our guide school has become known for, the waterfowl guide training program presents new material and approaches not found in any other waterfowl guide school.

Swan Mountain Wilderness Guide School has developed a new course focused on the issues, information and practical applications of Equine Health Care needed by the owner of multiple horses/mules. Nowhere in the country is there a course specifically designed to address the needs of this special class of horse owner. While there are many fine one day seminars or web casts on certain specific topics, no organization has developed a multi-day program that comprehensively covers the equine healthcare and first aid issues that are faced daily by the multi equine owner.
