Our business is family owned and operated mainly in the Bighorn National Forest under a Special Use Permit. We also operate on private land leases. We very carefully select our ranches for both quantity and quality of game. Our hunts are 100% fair chase, with no game fences or guaranteed kill situations. We offer rifle and archery hunts for Elk, Mule Deer, Antelope, Moose, Bear, Cougar, and a variety of combination hunts, which means we are sure to have a hunting opportunity to suit you. Accommodations vary on different hunts from deluxe wall tent camps, cabins or bunkhouses, to farm house and in some cases modern motel facilities. Please ask for details on specific hunts.

Unlike “Big Time” outfitters we like to keep a lower profile and get to know our clients. Your stories become our stories and vice versa. Our summer pack trips offer an excellent non-traditional vacation with family and friends. Warm weather, high mountain scenery, abundant sight-seeing and wildlife photography are the perks of one of these classic outings. Yet, this haven of recreation, fishing and wildlife is largely secluded especially when compared to the busy thorofares of Yellowstone country a few miles to the west. On the Big Horns you will see more of the West the way it was; the way it ought to be.

Our horses are well trained strong and mountain wise. One need not be an excellent rider to fully enjoy the trip. Days are of ten spent riding and exploring remote areas off the beaten path. You will enjoy discovering areas seldom visited, viewing summering wildlife, searching for wily trout or photographing breathtaking mountain landscapes.

Our trips usually comprise just your family or a few friends. The daily itinerary is tailored to your interests, whether it be riding, photography, hiking, looking for wildlife, exploring, or just relaxing. Our trips are excellent for even the youngsters in your family. We too have young children and can attest to their love of the wilderness.

We invite you to “rough it” in style at our “home away from home.” We take pride in our camp where each canvas walled tent is fully equipped with padded cots, woodstoves, lanterns, and generally the finest in outdoor recreational comfort. You’ll dine and even shower in special tents. Our meals are second to none as we serve hearty western meals; the finest the mountains have to offer. A long day of adventure culminates around a warm campfire sharing stories or reminiscing about your days experiences.

Another option Tangle Ridge Outfitters offers is what we call our Progressive pack trip. This highly mobile camp setting moves each day. The trip features many miles of wilderness trails over the course of five days with new scenery enjoyed daily. Because it is progressive, camp will consist of “pup” tents and of course much more horse back riding.

Pronghorn Antelope hunting in Wyoming is an exciting and yet highly successful experience for every antelope hunter from the beginner to the pro. The pronghorn antelope are plentiful which provides a great opportunity for most everyone to harvest a nice antelope. Don’t let the over abundance of antelope in our state fool you into thinking these guided antelope hunts are too easy. . . Antelope are a wily, sharp sensed, fast moving, animal which provides an exciting challenge for any hunter.

The 3 day rifle guided antelope hunts are a town hunt. You will be responsible for your own breakfast, dinner and hotel accommodations in a nearby town. We will provide a lunch and transportation to and from the ranch and pronghorn antelope hunting area each day. The spot and stalk pronghorn antelope hunting method is highly utilized for there guided antelope hunts. The archery guided antelope hunts are either operated as town hunts or as bunkhouse camp hunts, depending on the guided antelope hunts you choose.

You will be pronghorn antelope hunting from blinds setup strategically at well used water sources of the antelope. These guided antelope hunts can easily be paired as an antelope/mule deer combination. If you harvest an antelope early in the day, you may also have the opportunity to visit a nearby Prairie Dog town for some fun prairie dog hunting.

Trophy mule deer is one of the most sought after species in the west, and quality guided mule deer hunts are getting harder and harder to find. With Tangle Ridge Outfitters you can be assured a great mule deer hunting experience. We offer many different opportunities to hunt mule deer. Depending on your mule deer hunting style preference you can choose from a mountain backcountry pack-in hunt, a mountain cabin hunt conducted on private land, and two other different private ranches in the lower elevations of Wyoming.

These guided mule deer hunts can easily be combined with an elk or antelope hunt as well. All four of our mule deer hunting locations offer good quality and quantity of mule deer. The mule deer here have good genetics and mineral rich feed which promotes exceptional antler growth. Average mule deer bucks run 20”-24”, with the older more mature mule deer bucks ranging anywhere from 25”-29” and we never rule out the possibility of finding even better.

Over the past few years our success rate has been nearly 100%. These are “bragging rights” that do not come easily. We spend many days scouting and preparing for your guided mule deer hunts long before the seasons open. However, the harvest success of each hunt depends on weather conditions and the ability and desire of each individual.

Mountain Lion hunting is not just a winter past time for us, its serious business. These guided cougar hunts depend heavily on favorable weather conditions, but with good snow cover, success on past guided cougar hunts has been good. This animal is a highly elusive cat which makes them a prize to be had amongst hunters. Our mountain lion hunting hounds are trained and continuously exercised in hunting these sleek natured animals. It is truly an indescribable adventure to hunt behind the dogs and enjoy the chase in a beautiful mountainous area.

Mountain Lions range in size from 80-110 lbs with the toms reaching 130-180 lbs. Cougar licenses can be purchased over the counter. These guided cougar hunts are operated out of a local lodge or motel which is at your own expense. We have a local meat processor and taxidermist who will take care of your processing, shipping, and taxidermist needs; or our mountain lion hunting guides can prepare your meat and mount for you to transport home to your own local vendors. Be sure to bring a camera to record this unique experience.
