We welcome you to Water Valley Lodge we offer Alabama hunting trips that can include whitetail deer, turkey, boar, and quail hunts. This Alabama hunting trip is one of the best in the Southeast.
We have one of the largest sustained whitetail deer populations in the state. Our Alabama hunting season for whitetail deer begins October 15th through January 31st. We also have over 30,000 acres of privately managed Alabama hunting property. Because of the large population of our deer herds many can rut through the whole Alabama hunting season. Many Alabama hunts are favored in January because of the late rut season. We want your Alabama hunting experience to be phenomenal, we don't charge trophy fees, you can harvest one buck each day, and have no limits or extra costs on harvesting as many coyotes, hogs, or bobcats. Alabama hunting doesn't get much better than this!
Plan your Alabama hunting trip to include hogs, turkeys, quail, and above all else whitetail deer. Alabama hunting for hogs are best in late February through April and again September through October with no limits you can harvest either sex or what ever size. Wildlife management is a year-round program at Westervelt Lodge. From planting and managing foodplots to routine upgrades and updates of the property, the staff of trained wildlife biologists is focused on developing optimal conditions for a trophy-quality white-tailed deer herd.
Depending on observed deer activity, acorn abundance, or stage of the rut, our guests hunt from either sturdy metal ladder stands positioned in hardwood bottoms or travel corridors, tripods and elevated blinds overlooking hub & spoke lanes or shooting houses on one of our many permanent game foodplots. Guests may bring their own climbing stands if they wish.

About Rack & Spur Hunting Lodge
Rack and Spur has some of the finest hunting land in central Alabama. Our Alabama woods are full of mature oak bottoms, pine plantations, creek bottoms, and is bordered by approximately 2.5 miles of the Tallapoosa River. The land has been in the quality deer management program since 1987. We have land for the first time hunter as well as the trophy hunter. Rack and Spur is a very family orientated hunting facility. Over the years, fathers, sons, mothers, and daughters have enjoyed the hunting experience on our land. We encourage family hunting but we also cater to the avid sportsman who is in search of that trophy animal.
Alabama Hunting Environment: Our soil is nourished throughout the year with special planting and mixtures for optimal animal growth.
Hunting in Alabama: Alabama has some of the best Whitetail and Wild turkey hunting in the southeast. Rack and Spur Hunting Lodge is located in a relatively undeveloped part of Alabama, and our lodge is located on one of the largest unbroken tracts of land in the southeast. Being known for its big bucks and large turkeys, Rack and Spur Hunting Lodge, with its fine accommodations, is the place to plan your next Alabama hunt.
We have numerous sites available for hunting. Our hunting houses are sturdy and will accommodate from 1 to 4 hunters. Hunters may bring their own stand. Safety is a priority at Rack and Spur and there will always be a safe distance between hunters. Our fields/soil is nourished throughout the year. Our spring and summer planting consists of corn, soybeans and cow horn peas. Winter planting consists of a high protein mixture that has been developed over the last 20 years.
All hunters and guests will stay in a 2 story plantation home which is 160+ years old. The house sleeps 10 comfortably with all bed linens provided. There are 2 full baths with all towels provided. Other amenities include satellite TV, telephone, and mini refrigerators. Alabama Southern hospitality is our goal by providing breakfast, lunch, and supper the entire hunt to all hunters and guests.
