Our bison hunts are in Oak City, Utah, the cabin is snuggled at the mouth of Oak City canyon, along the border of forest service land. Our bison hunts are usually in the middle of the Utahn winters and therefore we would like to warn any participants to bring the appropriate gear for this weather. On a positive note though our beautiful cabin can provide warmth from a fireplace, rest rooms, and kitchen facilities, along with old relics from the past.

Buffalo is the name commonly used for these huge beasts, but the proper name for them is actually Bison. Montana is a top Buffalo (bison) hunting destination and Bearpaw Outfitters private buffalo ranch offers some of the best bison hunting in Montana. Best of all, these are not pen raised buffalo. These buffalo are not much different than the native wild bison that roamed this large ranch in years past.

Trophy buffalo bulls, older mature bulls, young bulls, cows, and yearling hunts are offered. Currently we have numerous buffalo of all sizes, and a couple absolutely huge bulls are available for this season. The meat is very tasty on younger buffalo so younger animals are what most meat hunters concentrate on. The meat is low in fat and cholesterol and considered one of the healthiest red meats you can eat. Many diabetic people, persons needing to lower their cholesterol intake, and people on low fat diets have found that buffalo meat can really improve their health.

Antelope hunting, Mule Deer hunting, Whitetail hunting, or Prairie dog shooting can easily be added to your buffalo hunt. You can't imagine the fun of prairie dog shooting, there are hundreds of them to shoot at, so don't forget to plan a prairie dog hunt.

Many record-class Buffalo (bison) have been taken from our large ranch. These huge animals usually weigh anywhere from 500 to nearly 1800 pounds depending on the age and sex of the animal that you shoot. Cows, young bulls, and yearlings provide the best eating meat. Old bulls have the largest horns but have tougher meat.
