About Riverside Lodge

If you are a waterfowl hunter, cut from a different cloth than most. We share your passion, commitment and love of diver duck hunting. You owe it to yourself to experience the wonderful diver duck hunting opportunities and witness the start of the migration at least once in your career. Our guided diver duck hunts are truly world class with traditional diver duck hunting done from boats over decoys. Riverside Lodge has been outfitting guided diver duck hunts since 1961 and the diver duck hunting is as good as it ever was. We adhere to all game laws and provide ethical fair chase diver duck hunts. Riverside Lodge and area is well known for the tremendous diver duck migrations which historically take place each fall. We are located on a major flyway feeding and staging area for as many as 15 species of ducks alone. Our diver duck hunting is very much like it was many years ago, not much has changed, only the hunters and equipment.

A few of our diver duck hunting guides have been working here for 20+ years and have seen a lot of things but yet nothing surprises them. It is a natural flyway for the migration from the north. The big lake acts as a magnet to the flocks of diver duck as they travel south, giving them a place to stage and feed while they wait the cold winds. We have a friendly Lodge rule to shoot drakes only.

Typical day of diver duck hunting starts early here with a 5:00am breakfast served in the lodge, then a 50 step walk to the dock and you are diver duck hunting. Guided diver duck hunts are captained by our experienced professionally certified and licensed Manitoba diver duck hunting guides, who will take you to places that will amaze you. There is a huge marsh connected with rivers and lakes and Islands and there is also the big Lake Winnipegosis where we hunt big water. There is always a place to hunt even if the weather is rough. This location is the only one of it's kind along the shores of the big lake. The scenery alone is breathtaking and many hunters want us to just sit there after successful diver duck hunts and take in the surroundings.

You will return at noon to the lodge for lunch and resume your guided diver duck hunts at 2:30 pm. The evening diver duck hunts are over at dark and upon returning you will sit down to a very hearty dinner which resembles a holiday meal. We serve up terrific meals of duck such as "7 hour roast duck" and "Duck poppers" throughout the week. After dinner you can retire to your quiet private cabin or stay up and visit in our Log gazebo which has satellite TV and several comfortable arm chairs and sofas that tend to bring out the story teller in everyone.

You will see many different critters on a typical day out in the wilds, such as Bald and Golden Eagles, Bears, Moose, Deer, Buffalo, Elk, Wolves, Coyotes, Fox, Otter, Mink, Beaver, Muskrat, Pelicans and many more that we see here everyday. Oh yea and few ducks too. We are very aware that traveling hunters want to find a place that is void of people and human disturbances, and that is exactly the kind of diver duck hunts you will get at Riverside Lodge. The area we hunt is void of people due to the remoteness and sheer size of the area. You will feel as though you "have the place to yourself" each day.

Diver duck hunting in Maryland tidal rivers and Chesapeake Bay is legendary with some of the most famous decoy carvers in the world.
