About Burnt Sky Outfitters

Welcome to Burnt Sky Outfitters. We are a south-central Iowa Hunting and Game Lodge located near Lorimor, Iowa. We offer Whitetail Deer and Wild Turkey Hunts on Iowa and Missouri Lands. We can accommodate small groups in our on-site lodging.

Burnt Sky Outfitters offers shotgun deer hunting, muzzle loader deer hunting and archery deer hunting. Shed Hunting is excellent here as well.

Tree stands and ground blinds are our primary hunting styles. Bring your own tree stand if you prefer.

Rut season in Iowa is mid November. Iowa is in the Iowa DNR Hunting Zone #4 for Wild Turkey. Non-Resident Deer License Applications are accepted from May 3, 2009 to June 1, 2009. Iowa Deer Hunting Seasons typically start mid September and go through mid January. Iowa Wild Turkey Hunting Seasons are offered spring and fall.

Your guides and hosts are Bill Bates and Bucky Reper. Seasoned hunters that know the wildlife patterns of their land and will position your hunts to the best possible advantage.

They know the lay of the land and wildlife patterns on the ground you will be hunting. They want your hunt to be successful and will work hard to make sure your hunting experience is what you expect. PrimeTime Outdoors is not your typical outfitter. Think of us as your private hunting club with your own manager, stands, private farms & ranches, with lodging and an experienced staff. It’s time for you to experience what Missouri whitetail and turkey hunting is all about. PrimeTime Outdoors has one goal, “grow-em big”. With a high 130” minimum on whitetail, this allows more bucks to reach at least 3 ½ years old before being harvested. We know if a buck reaches this age, he will be more apt to live 5 or 6 years and will allow them to reach their full potential.

We believe these old farms hold a lot of minerals which also enhances the antler growth. With several tree stands, shooting houses placed in ambush locations allows us to keep a high shot opportunity on Pope & Young animals. Also year around scouting and trail-cams gives you the added bonus of harvesting big bucks. These deer are in there natural environment and are never pressured.

About Honey Creek Outfitters

With nearly 5,000 acres of upland hardwoods, rivers, and creek bottoms located in the beautiful Green Hills area of north Missouri, Honey Creek Outfitters is committed to creating the hunt of a lifetime for that trophy deer or turkey.

We have nearly 5000 acres of upland hardwoods and creek bottoms for your hunting adventure with 1600 of those acres in corn and soybeans. Tree stands and tower blinds are set up and ready to go when you arrive. However, if you have a stand that you are extremely comfortable with and want to bring with you, you may do so. Stands are set up on several funnels and bottlenecks connecting bedding areas with food sources and also along crop field edges. There is also approximately 1200 acres of C.R.P. land mixed between the crops and timber which makes an excellent recipe for mature bucks. All hunts are 100% fair chase with absolutely no high fences. This is real hunting. All acres are on private property. No public hunting grounds. We book a limit of 8 hunters per any hunting day to insure low pressure and quality of hunt. An 8 point harvest minimum is required with outside spread to the outer tips of the ears. Typically your 125-130 class deer.

Spring turkey hunting is excellent with an excellent population. We have a 95% success rate since our beginning in 2003. All hunts are fully guided unless requested otherwise. Hunting hours close at 1:00 pm each day throughout the season,therefore,we usually spend the late afternoon and evening hours scouting and watching birds fly up to roost. Bird weight average is between 18 and 27lbs. with beard length averaging 8-12 inches. All birds are Eastern species.
