About Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters

Montana is renowned for its big game hunting and Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters has been a part of that hunting notoriety for over 40 years. Archery or rifle, ABO provides high quality challenging wilderness and private land hunts.

Our early season elk and deer rifle hunts have you hunting in the peak of the bugling season. These wilderness hunts are in tough and rigorous country, typical of the great hunting areas in North America. We guide a limited number of hunters through this unspoiled wilderness in order to maximize their chances for success. ABO’s wilderness hunts are guided primarily on horseback but require some walking and climbing as well. We will hunt as hard as you want to hunt. Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters operates three USFS permitted backcountry camps in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness from which hunters can choose. All camps have comfortable accommodations with first-class meals prepared by our seasoned camp cook.

For the hunter who prefers a challenging hunting experience with less difficult terrain, Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters offers a limited number of hunters fair chase hunts in distinctive ranch settings with high success rates. Early Season Rifle Elk Hunt

Absaroka Beartooth Outfitters’ early season rifle elk hunts are held in the peak of the bugling season. ABO accesses one of two areas in the state that offers backcountry early season rifle hunts for elk and deer. We operate two permitted wilderness camps during the early season with full accommodations. These are high quality, challenging wilderness hunts.

Hellroaring & Independence Hunts

ABO guides archery and rifle hunters in the Absaroka Beartooth Wilderness for elk, deer, mountain goat, bighorn sheep, moose and black bear. During the early season and part of the general season ABO bases from its two backcountry camps, Hellroaring and Independence. Hellroaring is accessible only by horseback and Independence is accessible by 4x4 vehicles.

Greater Yellowstone Area Hunts

ABO proudly offers elk, deer, bighorn sheep and buffalo hunting along the migration corridor on the Yellowstone National Park boundary. In winter, the elk migrate to their winter range through this area. This is the elk hunter’s opportunity of a lifetime for a trophy bull. Accommodations include a comfortable hunting lodge above Yellowstone National Park and our backcountry tent camp, Bassett Creek.

Private Land Hunts

For the hunter who prefers a private land hunt, Absaroka-Beartooth Outfitters offers you a challenging, first class fair chase hunting experience with less difficult terrain.
