About Atlantic Rivers Outfitting Co

The Main River Lodge is located at 1,400 feet above sea level and features abundant snowfall and cold temperatures for snowmobile, cross-country ski, snowshoe and ice fishing enthusiasts. The season begins in January and the deep snow base permits unrestricted winter activities right through to April. The spectacular backcountry terrain features enormous open snowfields, fjords and forested valleys.

Snowmobilers and skiers can explore the rugged, one of a kind wonder of the geological formations of Gross Morne National Park and surroundings while enjoying the vast remoteness of the snow covered winter paradise. Western Brook Pond gorge located within Gros Morne Park is a truly breathtaking sight and should be a pilgrimage on everyone’s bucket list. Accessible only by helicopter or a long arduous hike in summer the gorge is a short snowmobile trek from the Lodge. The gorge was formed by the last ice age and contains unique geological structures and falls within the UNESCO world heritage boundary. The re-settled community of Great Harbour Deep is another challenging snowmobile trek from the Lodge that will take you down from the Long Range Mountains right to the waters of White Bay.
