Washington State is located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States and is the northwestern-most state of the contiguous United States. The Columbia River forms most of the eastern border and the Pacific Ocean is to the west. The high mountains of the Cascade Range run north-south, bisecting the state into different climates and regions. A land of contrasts: deep forests of the Olympic Peninsula, and the semi-desert to the east.

About 1 Arm Bandit Guide Service
Welcome To 1 Arm Bandit Fishing Guide Service!
"RJ" Herzman is the 1 Arm Bandit. He has been fishing the rivers in the Portland, Oregon and SW Washington area for most of his life.
I specialize in salmon fishing, steelhead fishing, sturgeon, steelhead, halibut tuna and crabbing trips. Many of my trips are out of Chinook Washington, Portland Oregon, Astoria Oregon, Vancouver Washington, will walk a Washington and near Bonneville dam. I always try to use the most popular methods for that particular fishery where I am fishing. If I had to name the single most common method used, it would be trolling. There are a lot of fishing guides in this area. I keep in touch with them on a daily basis to find out where they have been fishing and how successful they have been. Fishing conditions change on a daily basis so an area that was successful on Monday may just go dead on Wednesday. By contacting other guides in the area I always stay on top of the hot areas for fishing. Many other local area fishing guides fish the same places day in and day out. They have good days and bad days but continue to go back to the same areas. If a particular fishing area is not productive I won't waste my time and yours fishing there and trying to make something happen that just ain't gonna happen. My promised to you is that I'll not only take you fishing, I'll do my homework first so you have the best possible chance of catching fish.
Oregon and Washington are popular places to fish. Annual steelhead and salmon runs are often better than any place else in the world. The Willamette River runs right through the city of Portland, Oregon and features excellent sturgeon, salmon and steelhead fishing. If you stay at a hotel in Portland, Oregon you can literally be fishing from your hotel room. The most productive part of the Columbia River for fishing is the area from the mouth of the Columbia River near Astoria Oregon, known as buoy 10, all the way up to the Bonneville dam. I fish the Columbia River and many of the tributaries that run into the Columbia River and even fish in the Pacific Ocean.
The key word here is options. Many fishing guides are only experts in fishing for one are two types of fish. I've spent several years in Alaska learning how to catch halibut and tuna. That means that fishing guides who were limited to fishing for only a few species may often limit your chances of catching fish because, for example if salmon fishing is bad, they will still book a trip with you because that's the only option they have.
When you call the 1 Arm Bandit Fishing Guide Service, we have lots of options. If fishing conditions are not good for one species I can almost always recommend other fishing choices. Not many of the local area guides can take you tuna fishing or halibut fishing and if you've never experienced quality northwest halibut and tuna fishing, you have no idea what you are missing!
