The thick underbrush and steep terrain offer long life to the famous Blacktail and Roosevelt Elk, some of the creatures known as Timber Ghosts! Growing up at the Foothills of the Cascades, Brian has learned how to predict the habits of these elusive animals, and in doing so, have skyrocketed their success rates on these Trophy’s!
There are various techniques on how to hunt Blacktail Deer and Roosevelt Elk in Washington and these techniques are what we have mastered! Having a good set of eyes and covering ground, while moving cautiously through the woods at a slow pace, keeping the wind to your face and being in the right area are what brings success.
Growing up as locals we have learned the areas and the animal patterns. Learning exactly what to look for and where is the key to finding these animals in Washington’s rainforest. The cascade mt range extends from Canada to Mexico. It is famous for the pacific crest trial, and a series of volcanoes. Mt saint Helens Mt Adams Mt Hood Mt Rainer. Looking for an amazing Washington hunt? We are proud to have exclusive access to 95% of Coleville National Forest which also includes the top three managed Units. This Washington hunt is so special because of the habitat in which big game can thrive. This Washington hunt is fortunate not to have even moderate pressure. Our Washington hunt for our archers can go until nearly Christmas. We also are allowed to bait in certain areas which we take full advantage of. You will not find a hunt anywhere else in the country that will allow a non-resident to buy a combination deer and elk tag over the counter. You will even get to bow hunt over the bait later.
If you are looking for a Washington hunt with potential you have found the right place. It is common enough practice to anticipate a 140” to 150” class deer in our area, but there is a great potential to harvest a 200” buck. You will have nothing but a comfortable hunt even if your hunt happens to be late November, with our heated ground blinds you will feel as though you are being spoiled. We have also placed non-heated ground blinds and tree stands around in promising areas.

Washington State is home to almost every Western big game animal in the lower 48 states. Upfront Outfitters offers guided hunts for Roosevelt elk, Rocky Mountain elk, Blacktail deer, Mule deer, Whitetail deer, three species of turkeys as well as Shiras moose, and both California and Rocky mountain Bighorn sheep.
Washington state has long been overlooked as a hunting destination of choice. With the abundance of wildlife and variety of tags available over the counter consider the many opportunities this state has to offer. There are many quality over the counter hunts to choose from in Washington state. When booking a guided hunt with Upfront Outfitters you can choose a guided hunt for Roosevelt elk, Blacktail deer, Whitetail deer, Mule deer, Black bear, or Turkey. In 2009 and 2010 we were 98% shot opportunity on all of our rifle hunts for Roosevelt elk and Blacktail deer and our archery hunts 85% opportunity. We were 100% success on our Mule deer hunts. The one thing you can count on is that you will have a great experience hunting with Upfront Outfitters. You will have a great camp, great guides, great food and your hunt will be scouted and planned well in advance.
With Washington being our home state, these areas are where we grew up learning to hunt, fish and camp as children. Mike has over 30 years hunting experience alone. He has spent over 20 of those years as a professional guide hunting multiple species from Alaska to Arizona. He is also a National seminar speaker on public land archery and rifle elk hunting. Combine his experience with his staff of guides from these areas and Upfront Outfitters has over 100 years experience in public land hunting the Washington areas in which we call home. When you add the total experience we have hunting these areas and the time we spend in the field scouting, learning animal behavior, backpacking and camping I can promise you won't find anyone more qualified to take you on a guided hunt for public land animals.
Upfront Outfitters- We offer first class and highly successful guided Roosevelt elk hunts and guided Blacktail deer hunts on the west side of the state, and we offer guided Mule deer hunts and guided Whitetail deer hunts on the east side of the state. We also offer guided private land hunts for turkey and Blacktail deer, we are legally permitted in many of the draw units and offer guided trophy bighorn sheep hunts, guided trophy moose hunts as well as guided hunts for trophy elk and deer in certain draw units. We also have guided hunts for all three species of turkeys in Washington in case you want to try for your turkey slam.
