About Spotted Horse Ranch

Reserve a rustic Wyoming hunting trip with the Spotted Horse Ranch. You will be outfitted by the best Wyoming outfitter since 1961. This rustic wild country is abundant with game among its diverse terrain. This Wyoming hunt will take you on an adventure of a lifetime, you will have access to over 50 horses so one will suite you. This Wyoming hunt is in the back country spreading over 152,000 acres of Bridger-Teton National Forest.

Although this Wyoming hunt takes place in remote back country you will not be lacking in amenities, there is a heated shower tent, dining tent, and running water. This canvas mansion is equip with a wood burning stove, cots, pads, night stands and lamps. There is private rest room facilities, a large dining room set up and served family style. Delicious home cooked meals are provided along with many different beverages.

On this Wyoming hunt all the lodges amenities are at your disposal from lodging, to our hot-tub, sauna, meals, and we can even transport you to a nearby rifle range for checking your guns accuracy. Western Lands Outfitters is licensed by the Wyoming State Board of Outfitters and Professional Guides. Our license # is BG073.

The whole state of Wyoming is on a lottery system. Our main antelope area is unit 99. It has a 35% chance of drawing with preference points. Our moose area is unit 27. It takes at least 8 points to get a permit. Our deer is region K. The drawing odds are 100% with a preference point. Our elk are in area 106. You apply for the general tag unless you want to hunt cow elk. It has 100% chance of drawing with a preference point.

In Wyoming we specialize in mule deer. Bucks scoring in the mid 180's and 190's are common. It is very possible to harvest a buck scoring over 200". We take a minimal amount of hunters. It is not uncommon to see 75 bucks a day in this area. The moose can grow to be huge in this area. We have seen and measured bulls in the 170-inch class. It takes 155" to make the B&C record book. Our antelope average in the high 70-inch class. Occasionally we will get one that scores in the 80's. Bull elk range around 300 inches on the average. Larger bulls are sometimes taken.

The elevation varies from 6,000 feet to 8,000 feet on the ranches. Most of the area is in a high desert climate. The higher elevations receive more moisture. The terrain is made up of steep, rugged canyons. The terrain is brushy with pockets of aspen. Water is plentiful on these ranches.

We lodge our hunters at our base camp in Utah. The properties we hunt adjoin the Utah ranches. Each morning, hunters leave using trucks. Once in Wyoming, Polaris Rangers are the primary method of travel. Spot and stalk is the method of hunting. There has been a lot of oil exploration in this area and we utilize the roads for most of the hunts.

We supply all the camp equipment, food, guides and our years of experience. Camp consists of two cabins for the hunters and a series of wall tents with wood floors in them. They each have a wood burning stove in them. The bedrooms have electric heat. The cabins have beds in them and the wall tents have cots and sleeping pads. We have electricity at camp, so we have hot showers, TV, microwave, fridge and freezer.

The food is excellent. Meals are prepared at camp and typically we eat a light breakfast, return for a big lunch and later in the evening eat a first class meal.
