We hunt on the Uncompahgre Plateau, National Forest, and BLM in unit 61 and unit 62. We hunt on approximately 50,000 acres in each unit. The terrain varies, dark timber, aspen groves, scrub oaks, cedars, pinions, and meadows. The elevation at the lodges is 9600 feet and we hunt down from there. We use 4-wheel drive vehicles and ATV’s to transport hunters to the hunting areas. Our goal is to accommodate the individual hunter. First time hunter, or veteran hunter, we want you to have the ultimate hunting experience.

Archery & Muzzle Loaders: Our area has some of the best archery and Muzzle loading habitat in the state. Dark timber, oaks, water holes, and secluded areas with little pressure, attract big bulls. The Bulls can be very vocal at this time. We have spike camps set up in some of the best areas, so we don’t have a long walk in, in the morning or a long walk out at night. We have a 3-D archery course available at the lodge.

The Lodge is surrounded by National Forest. The Lodge is located on Divide Road, which seperates unit 61 and unit 62. The Lodge is in unit 61. Dark Timber Lodge offers a pristine setting with ponds, meadows, and wooded areas. The Lodge is warmed by a wood stove and a large raised hearth fireplace. We have a newly updated ktichen and updated bathrooms with private hot showers. We have a large bunk room and private rooms are available. The Lodge supplies all linens and meals are included. Our guides in unit 61 and 62 are the best you can find. They are out in the woods most of the year looking for the best bulls and the areas that have the most animals.
